Spring 2020

Just because the tasting room is closed, doesn’t mean the vines are. We had bud burst about the end of March. Bud burst is basically the first signs of life that the previously dormant vines give. We just noticed the beginning development of the flowers before Easter.

We will be selectively choosing shoots and removing anything that is cluttering the growing area, as well as anything growing down or off the trunk of the vine. This is also known as ‘suckering the vine.’ Mowing will start as soon as the rain stops and then we will plant a flower cover crop to encourage beneficial bugs that eat other invasive bugs.
